The Tudor Songbook: More than just Greensleeves
Join us in the Great Hall this summer to hear some of the most exquisite music and songs from the Tudor period, accompanied by lute and in full glorious Elizabethan costume.
Experience history through the ears of the Tudors with a journey through the songs familiar to Henry VIII and his wives to the religious and court music known to Elizabeth I.
Step back in time as classically trained soprano Jay Britton presents The Tudor Songbook:More than just Greensleeves. Filled with intrigue, double meaning, declarations of love, melancholy and the heavens, the music of this age gives us a fascinating insight into life in the Tudor period, in as much detail and colour as the most elaborate tapestries.
Please note:
- Our Outdoor Events team will meet you at the Home Farm restaurant, where refreshments are available, before escorting you to the performance, which will take place in the Great Hall.
- Once the sun goes down, the Great Hall can be a little draughty so we'd recommend wearing a warm layer such as a jumper or cardigan.
- The Great Hall is fully accessible with step-free, level access. Please note we're unable to accommodate large mobility scooters in the house. An indoor mobility scooter and wheelchairs are available to loan. There is a five minute walk to the house.
- Not suitable for young children.
- For the first performance: Refreshments at 17.45, show starts at 18.30. Please do not arrive earlier than 17.40 as the restaurant will not be open.
- For the later performance: Refreshments at 19.15, show starts at 20.00 Please do not arrive earlier than 19.10 as the restaurant will not be open.
