Ceramic vase workshop

Make your own botanical ceramic vase in this specialist workshop with EJaRt Creative.

This summer we are holding a series of workshops and craft sessions in the Walled Garden. Located in our Creative and Performance play zone, you’ll find lots of exciting activities to participate in under the big stretch tent.

In this workshop, the team at EJaRt Creative will guide you as you create your own clay botanical vase.

Using mark-making techniques, you’ll create a textured clay surface that will be transformed into a mini wrapped vase.

You'll learn how to roll and texture your clay slab, then wrap and build your vase. To complete your session, we'll guide you through the process of refining and finishing your pieces.

The finished pieces will have colour and glaze added, the ceramics will be taken back to the EJaRt studio to dry before being fired in their kilns and carefully wrapped. They will then be posted to you.

Please note:

  • Please head down to the Walled Garden for the workshop. The session will take place in the stretch tent. Allow 15-20 minutes from arrival at the kiosk to walk down to the Walled Garden.
  • Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little mucky! This is a creative session and you might get messy using the materials.
  • The path from the Welcome Point to the Walled Garden is hardstanding and takes around 10-20 minutes to walk it. During the summer our shuttle bus will make trips to and from the Walled Garden to aid those who are not able to walk there. The ground in the Walled Garden is grassy and undulating. Some manual and electric wheelchairs may find this terrain challenging to move across.
  • This session is aimed at older children (10 and above) teenagers and adults
  • The ticket is valid for one vase per ticket holder. All children must be accompanied by an adult, but adults do not need a ticket unless they want to participate in the craft themselves.
  • Tickets to this workshop include admission to Ickworth Estate and postage of the finished glazed vases.
