Community lantern making workshop
Create your own glowing lantern at Stackpole Estate, then join our magical Community Lantern Procession on Saturday 31 January. Free, family-friendly workshop (ages 8+). Booking essential, limited places.
Stackpole Estate’s much-loved Community Lantern Procession is back on Saturday 31 January!

Before the procession, come along to the Stackpole Centre and make your very own lantern in a free, friendly workshop with Sand Palace Arts.
You’ll be guided step-by-step to create a beautiful lantern using willow, tissue paper, and glue to carry on the night.
Useful things to know:
Free workshop.
Don't forget to book your place on the procession too.
Ages 8+.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
If you’re attending the workshop with younger children, you’re welcome to make one lantern together in pairs—please book one place per pair.
Arrive on time so you have plenty of time to finish your lantern.
To keep things easy, your lantern will be stored safely at the Stackpole Centre until the procession on Saturday 31 January, and you can take it home afterwards.
Please note:
- Meet at Stackpole Centre theatre at 5pm: Stackpole Centre, The Old Home Farmyard, Stackpole, Pembrokeshire, SA71 5DQ
- Please bring a torch, part of this event will be taking place outside in the dark.
Sturdy, waterproof footwear is essential. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate to the weather. - While the Stackpole Centre theatre is accessible, the lantern procession trail will take place outside and include uneven ground, steps and muddy paths. The trail is not suitable for wheelchairs, but the Stackpole Centre is, and music, food and merriment will all be indoors. If you’re unsure this event is for you, please call 01646 623110 for more information. Accessible toilets are on-site.
- This is a free event, but cash donations to National Trust will be welcomed on the day.
