Please Note:
Please note, visits are by guided tour only. Please arrive at the cottage at the start of your allocated time slot to ensure you do not miss the start of your guided tour. Please allow 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the cottage through the woods or along the bridleway from the Dorset Council car park. Please refer to the map in the car park and onsite signage to locate the cottage.
It is not necessary to visit the visitor centre before visiting the cottage but you may wish to use facilities and pick up a leaflet with a map.
We recommend also booking a visit to Hardy’s House Max Gate just 3 miles from Hardy's Cottage. By visiting both Hardy's Cottage and Max Gate you will experience the complete Hardy story from his birthplace to where he spent his final days.
