Please note:

Between 10am-2.30pm, access to the house is for free flow, self-led visits.

Guided tours are available at 3pm daily. All tours include general history of the house, with a special focus on cooking and the library on Thursdays and Fridays.

  • Taste of Townend Tour - Thursday
  • Books and Library Tour - Friday

Your timeslot reflects the check-in time. The tour starts promptly at 3pm and lasts approximately 45 minutes.

For Heritage Open Days 2025, celebrate Townend being opened by the National Trust in 1948 with two 1940s themed days on 16 and 17 September. No guided tour of the house will be running on these dates and prebooking is not required.
