Industrial heritage of the Whitehaven Coast guided walk
Brought to you by the National Trust for the Festival of Archaeology and Heritage Open Day. Take in the views and learn about the particular history of the area on a guided walk along the Whitehaven Coast trail.
Ranger Chris Gomersall will guide you on a 2 hour walk along the coast where he will talk about the mining history of this area of the coast as well as the stories around the founding of Whitehaven.
Take a step back in time as you imagine what it would have been like when the town was a bustling port, busy with imports and exports travelling by sea. Of course, the high view over the sea with the flowering meadows we have been working to restore makes for a picture perfect day everyone can enjoy.
Please note:
- Meet outside Beacon Museum, Whitehaven Harbour, West Strand, CA28 7LS

- We'll be walking from the harbour up to the former Haig Pit. The walk is on established paths which are a mix of tarmac and compacted crushed stone. The walk involves climbing steps.

- Dogs on leads welcome.
