Lord Sackville's Private Garden Open Days

Visitors can explore the 26 acre garden and stunning views of the house on these special event days throughout the year.

Lord Sackville’s private garden at Knole is a beautiful space, featuring sprawling lawns, a walled garden, an untamed wilderness area and a medieval orchard. Visitors can explore the 26 acre garden and stunning views of the house on these special event days throughout the year.

Tickets can be pre-booked online or purchased on the day, subject to availability. 

Normal admission to Knole applies in addition to a garden event ticket. 

National Trust members: normal admission is free; garden ticket charges apply.
Non-members: if you wish to use the car park or visit other areas of Knole that require a ticket, you will also need to purchase an admission ticket to Knole. The minimum admission ticket required is an Outdoor and Tower ticket (£6 for adults and £3 for children aged 5-17).

  • Access to the garden is possible for wheelchairs via a gravel path. Please ask for details at the Visitor Centre when you arrive. Some paths may be difficult in poor weather. Assistance dogs are welcome in the garden.
  • Suitable for children and families. Under 5s go free.
  • As this is a private garden, tended by Lord Sackville's gardeners, seating is limited and plants are not marked.
  • Only assistance dogs are permitted in the garden.
  • Picnics are not permitted in the garden.
  • Garden gates open 11am and close at 4pm, last entry is 3.30pm. The main vehicle gate to Knole and the car park opens at 10am.
