Have you ever wanted to peek inside the grand Wentworth Castle? Now’s your chance!
Step inside the grand house at the centre of the estate on a select number of volunteer-led tours through Wentworth Castle, now Northern College. Marvel at the intricate ceilings and grand staircases and learn more about the history and people behind this former stately home.
Booking is essential and tickets are £8, plus normal admission. If you would benefit from the support of an essential companion, please also book an extra free carer space. Due to the historic layout of the building and restricted space on the tour route, capacity is limited to one wheelchair user per tour. Please book the designated Wheelchair user ticket if required.
Under 5's are included with an adult ticket, but the tour is recommended for children aged 10 and up. As the tour route involves several sets of stairs, buggies or prams may be limiting.
The route involves several staircases and long stretches of uneven floor. If you have additional accessibility requirements, please get in touch in advance so that we can make suitable arrangements.
Tours start promptly at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, and 1.30pm. The tours are expected to last around 90 minutes.
As Northern College is a working college, the tour route may vary based on availability of the rooms on the day. Please note, the house has been a college since 1948. There’s still a lot to see, but the original furniture and pictures were sold many years ago.
Please note:
- Normal Admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- Meet outside the Visitor Information Shed. It is 200 metres from the car park to the Visitor Information Shed so please allow time for walking up.
- A lift is available but due to the historic layout of the building and restricted space on the tour route, capacity is limited to one wheelchair user per tour. Please book the designated Wheelchair user ticket if required. If you would benefit from the support of an essential companion, please also book an extra free carer space. If you have any additional access requirements please get in touch.
- If you're having difficulties booking, our Visitor Reception team can help you on site.
