Dog Training Sessions - Dog Parkour
Join us for a dog training session hosted at Ickworth with Ellie from Smart Nose Dog Training. Learn advanced training techniques and spend quality time with your four-legged friend.
Join us as we welcome Ellie from Smart Nose Dog Training. She will be providing free training classes for you and your dog. Exercises can vary month to month so anybody who wants to attend more than one session will get the chance to learn new training techniques.
Dog parkour gives your dog a chance to take on physical movements in a controlled way as they learn to go over, under, through, or around obstacles. Benefits for your dog include improved body awareness, confidence, balance, and strength - benefits for you both include a boost to your relationship, and ideas to make your day-to-day walks extra fun! It is low impact, and suitable for all ages and abilities. No previous experience needed, and all equipment provided during the session.
We're inviting 8 dogs per session, so your booking is valid for your dog.
What to bring:
- Your dog!
- Your dog must be wearing a well-fitted flat collar or fixed harness with a fixed lead (no choke chains, slip leads, flexi leads or 'non pull' harnesses that tighten around the waist)
- Lots of small treats in an easily accessible treat pouch or pocket
- A bed/mat/towel for between exercises
Your dog's behaviour is your responsibility and dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Please be respectful of other dogs and their handlers. You’re responsible for ensuring your dog is fit and healthy to attend training and is fully vaccinated.
Please note:
- The training session tickets are not inclusive of day entry to the property. Normal admission charges apply and can be bought at the Welcome Point on arrival.
- National Trust Members have free entry to Ickworth, but will need to book a training session ticket.
- Meet at the Welcome Point in the main car park and bring your booking confirmation. Please arrive 15 minutes before the session begins to make your way to the training session and settle in.
- Come dressed in appropriate footwear and clothing. Dogs will need well fitted collars or harnesses with fixed length leads.
- The training session will take place in an open grassy area on site. Should be suitable for outdoor wheelchairs and/or mobility scooters. Please call us on 01284 736127 to discuss your accessibility needs and how we can help.
- Children are welcome. Please consider your own child's interests before joining the training session.
