Behind Closed Doors tours - Stourhead
A chance to see behind the normally closed doors of Stourhead house. Tours may cover four floors with many stairs and will give you an insight into what goes on behind the scenes.
During this tour you’ll have the chance to visit areas of Stourhead House usually closed to visitors including the attic and basement storerooms. The formal showrooms are not usually included.
Please note:
- Standard admissions charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- The tours start from the Entrance Hall of the house – this is an approx. 10-minute walk from the car park so please allow plenty of time.
- Please arrive at the entrance of Stourhead House five minutes before your booked tour.
- On the day of your tour please check-in at visitor reception to show your membership card or purchase admission tickets and confirm your arrival.
- The tour involves climbing up and down many staircases – please contact the property directly if you have any access concerns.
- This volunteer led tour lasts for around an hour and the house may be chilly, so please dress accordingly.
- Tours run from 7 January to 4 March 2026, weekdays only. The tour times are 11am, 12.45pm and 2.15pm.
