Walk with a Ranger on Kinver Edge

Follow in the footsteps of a National Trust Ranger and find out what is takes to look after nature and wildlife on Kinver Edge. It's free to join the walk but please book a ticket so we know how many people to expect.

Walk with our rangers to find out what it takes to look after a countryside site with a double SSSI award (Site of Special Scientific Interest).  Learn about the priority habitats, rare species and the important ecology & geology across the site and how our rangers manage and balance this important conservation work as well as making sure it is accessible for visitors.

Please note:

  • Meeting point is at the Orientation Board at Compton Road lay by car park, DY7 6DL. The walk will start promptly so please arrive 10 minutes before the start time.
  • Please ensure you wear sturdy footwear and sensible clothes (ideally layers and a waterproof) as the walk is across various undulating natural countryside terrains.
  • There is a lot a of walking and it can be steep in some parts. It is unsuitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
  • As it is a group walk and the rangers will be talking and sharing information, we recommend that dogs do not attend as they can be very distracting. However, if you do bring your dog we ask that they are well behaved and kept on a lead at all times during the walk.
  • This activity is aimed at adults but older children are welcome. Please bear in mind that this is a 3 hour walk up some steep hills and rough terrain.
  • Please bring plenty of water to drink and any other refreshments, as there is nowhere to stop to purchase any refreshments.
  • Allow 3 hours for the walk but this can vary, as each walk can be different and there will be stops to discuss conservation work.
