Walking And Painting The Landscape

Have you ever thought of drawing on a daily basis? Join artists Simon Carter and Susan Barnet on a walk to inspire you to do just that.

Renowned painter Simon Carter takes workshop participants on a walk through the wild Orford Ness landscape. Drawing and painting as we go, Simon will share the details of his own practice which consists of walking and drawing as a daily activity. This practice affords a way of observing and recording landscape that translates topographical points to marks on a page.

Please note:

  • Check in at the National Trust ticket office on Orford Quay at 9.15am for ferry crossing at 9.30am.
  • Orford Ness is an exposed landscape and weather can change suddenly. Bring warm layers and good walking shoes.
  • Involves ferry crossing - participants must be able to negotiate steep and sometimes slippery steps. Mostly made up paths once on site.
  • This event is for adults only.
  • In the event of extreme weather or very bad light the event may be cancelled or rescheduled.
