Nightskyhunter - Intro to the Night Sky
Join us for an evening under the stars! Expert astronomer Martin McKenna (Nightskyhunter) will give a presentation on basic constellations, bright stars, planets on view, and a chance to learn how to use telescopes & binoculars for star-gazing.
The evening will begin with a presentation covering the constellations, stars and planets that are available to see in the night sky over the next month - October being a month with exciting astronomical potential!
After the presentation we will then head out into the lower car-park (a known dark-sky spot) and learn how to use binoculars and telescopes to observe the night sky.
Please note this event is weather dependant - if we are unable to complete the outdoor segment of the evening, we will finish up after the presentation.
Please note:
- Meet at the Lower car park/Nissen Hut.
- The evening will take place partially outdoors, so please wear weather-appropriate clothing. If you have a telescope or binoculars, feel free to bring these as we will have a limited number.
- The event will take place on level ground, both in the Nissen Hut and in the lower car park. Accessible parking is available. If you have any questions about accessibility, please email us on belfast@nationaltrust.org.uk to discuss further.
- Tea/coffee will be provided.
