White Horse Hill Evening Stargazing Walk

Enjoy a tour of the night sky on White Horse Hill and take in its wonders from this perfect stargazing location.  Learn about the constellations, bright stars, planets and the deeper cosmos.

The mythology and stories of the stars, and their relationship with the ancient people that lived and worked there, followed by a guide on what's on view to the naked eye during the month ahead and more. Your guide will be Adrian West - a local, passionate and experienced astronomer. Adrian has written astronomy and space related articles for popular online science magazines. He has also written guides and articles for the BBC, Met office and National Trust to name a few.

Important note:

Stargazing is weather dependent and whilst we will make every effort to run the event, occasionally poor weather means we are unable to go ahead. If we have to cancel the original session due to poor weather an alternative session will run the next night. If this happens we will contact you and your booking will be moved automatically. Whilst only one session will run, we recommend you keep both days free in case of postponement. Please check for calls and emails on the day of the event, particularly if poor weather is forecast.

Please note:

  • Please meet at White Horse Hill car park.
  • Wear warm clothing, sensible footwear for walking and bring a torch.
  • The walk takes place over uneven terrain, after the sun has set and is very dark.
  • Unsuitable for children under 8.
