Terrazzo workshop at Wallington this Christmas: Festive decorations
Gets hands on with gift making this festive season on this Terrazzo workshop at Wallington, run by Kay Carter, from Kay Carter Studio.
During this workshop you will be guided through making your very own bespoke set of three terrazzo Christmas decorations. You'll be using Jesmonite AC100 which is solvent-free and environmentally friendly.
There will be a full demonstration on how to mix the Jesmonite casting material as well as combining the pigments to allow you to create your custom colours. You are the designer here, you can experiment, play with colours as well as the size of your terrazzo chip patterns!
Once you have made your terrazzo colour chips, you will be shown how to cast these into your silicone decoration moulds.
There will be a break while the Jesmonite cures and dries.
Once your pieces are ready to un-mould, you will sand, seal and finish your custom-made Christmas decorations.. You will leave with your finished creations on the day!
Please note:
- Head to Visitor Welcome on arrival where a member of the Wallington team will direct you to the venue.
- Toilets and an accessible toilet are available close by in the Courtyard.
- Not suitable for under 14's. No unaccompanied under 18's.
- A hot drink and biscuit on arrival are included in ticket price. A one-hour break is included for lunch and to look around the House (lunch is not provided but can be purchased from café).
- Please note the house shuts at 2pm on Tuesday 12 December. Suitable for beginners.
- Admission to Wallington is included in the ticket price.
