Moongazing Night at Allan Bank
Join us for an evening learning about the moon as it reaches its brightest and most visible phase.
Explore the wonders of the moon. Our astronomy expert will take you on a tour of the moon on the big screen.
Then, weather permitting, we will head outside and get hands-on using telescopes and binoculars to go in search of moon craters and mountains and learn more about the phases of the moon.
Most suitable for adults and children over 12.
Those with children under 12 are recommended to join us for the family-orientated session taking place earlier in the evening (see separate event listing).
Please note:
- Please park in the village and make your way up the driveway to Allan Bank. Members of our team will be there to meet you and direct you from here.
- Bring a torch and binoculars if you have them. Wear warm clothing and suitable footwear for walking on a footpath which is well graded but slightly rough in places.
- The indoor area is wheelchair accessible. The outdoor part of the evening involves a 50m walk on well graded footpath. We can accommodate those with accessibility needs if we know in advance.
- Suitable for children aged 12+.
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the event.
- Warm drinks (tea/coffee/hot chocolate), fruit squash and biscuits will be available all evening.
- If the weather is poor or cloudy the event will still go ahead. Our astronomers will instead take more time to take you on a virtual tour of the universe on the screen!
