Hound free hour in the garden

Visit the garden for a dog free hour on Saturday mornings.

We are trialling a dog free hour in the garden at Lyme on Saturday mornings between 9.30-10.30am.

Following visitor feedback, the garden will open an hour early on Saturdays for visitors who don’t want to share their visit with dogs.

Our dog free hour means that pet dogs cannot visit during this time but dogs will still be welcome in the garden between the normal opening times of 10.30am–3.30pm and we are not planning to change the amount of time that dogs are allowed in the garden.

Pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited during this trial. The dog free hour is free to book but normal admission charges upon arrival apply, members can visit the garden for free.

As this is a trial we welcome feedback from visitors so will be sending a short post-visit survey to those taking part after your visit. The survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete and we appreciate any comments and suggestions.

Please note:

  • Normal Admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • Enter the garden through the West Terrace gate to the left of the house. The main gates to the garden will not be open at this time.
  • Entry through the West Terrace gate is accessible, follow the accessible paths around the garden. Accessible entry through the Rose Garden will not be available at this time so if visitors park in the Orangery they will need to make their way to the West Terrace gate.
  • Suitable for children of all ages.
  • The garden toilets will be open for visitors as the corridor does not open until 10.30.
