Bird Watching Sat 3 February, 11am

Join Jean, an avid birder, plus a long-time volunteer at Morden Hall Park, on a walking tour  - how many birds will you spot?

Put on your walking boots, grab your binoculars and sharpen your hearing! Join us for a bird walk as we search for all the different birds that make Morden Hall Park their home in early February.

On a dry, sunny day we might see redwings, song thrushes, wrens, robins, great tits and blue tits. At this time of the year the birds are preparing to mate so there will hopefully be plenty of bird song to listen to. The males will be marking their territory and calling for a mate by attempting to be the loudest. It is likely to be the last chance to see redwings before they fly back to Scandinavia in the springtime. The waterfowl should also be very active as they prepare their nests on the island. You may even spot the greater spotted woodpecker knocking on trees and calling for a mate.

Please note:

  • Meet in front of the Snuff Mill.
  • The event will take place outside. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear walking shoes.
  • Bring your own binoculars if you have them - if not, we will have some pairs if you would like to borrow.
