Ripley and Ockham Mill walk

We debated calling this guided walk 'The post pancake perambulation' or 'One for Valentine vagrants' but settled on the above, disappointingly...

This five mile guided walk with the Wey Navigations volunteers heads off from Ripley towards the towpath, passing Ockham Mill and Newark Priory before returning to Ripley. We will also pass the site of Newark Mill, a five-storied building that burnt to the ground in hours in December 1966.  A good excuse to have a pancake or two the night before.

Please note:

  • Meet in the parking area at Ripley Green (north side of B2215). Parking and toilets (not National Trust) are available.
  • The towpath is likely to be muddy in February, so please wear appropriate footwear.
  • The walk is along a countryside towpath, so is likely to be bumpy and muddy in places.
  • Dogs on leads are welcome.  Although the walk is free, we ask you to book so we have an idea of numbers - thank you.
