An introduction to greenwood carving. Create your very cooking spoon and learn how to use three simple carving tools in the process – The Axe, Straight Knife and curved knife.
Join Paul Adamson, Kedleston Ranger and expert wood carver with over 20 years experience.
Green woodworking is the craft of using simple hand tools with freshly felled wood, to make functional items for the home and garden. Spoon carving is a good way to learn a great deal of information on the subject in a one day course.
You will be guided through the safe use of the axe and knives, learn about wood types and preparation, form and function, Scandinavian Slojd tradition and decoration methods. Wood will be provided from the Kedleston estate with plenty spare for you to take some home to practice with.
With your newly acquired spoons and skills, you will gain the confidence to take things further and progress onto other projects within this interesting and fulfilling craft.
