Introduction to flowers-on-tulle embroidery with Olga Prinku at Hidcote

Learn the basics of flowers-on-tulle embroidery in this three-hour workshop, hosted by botanical and embroidery artist Olga Prinku.

Olga will show you how to make your own “moon hoop” – a moon-shaped floral design in an 8” wooden embroidery hoop – which makes the perfect gift or decorative wall-hanging.

The workshop will begin with a guided foraging tour of the garden to collect a variety of organic plant material to include in your designs. You’ll then head to Hidcote’s Potting Shed to learn how to stretch and secure the tulle fabric in the embroidery hoop, prepare the stems of the dried flowers, and methods of attaching flowers to the fabric. All tools and materials will be provided, including a selection of suitable dried flowers alongside our foraged garden finds.

Olga will guide you on constructing natural, organic-looking branch shapes and distributing the various flowers to achieve a pleasing, balanced aesthetic. You will get a sturdy box in which to transport your design safely home, and advice on options for framing and display.

Delicious homemade cake and a glass of prosecco (or alcohol-free alternative) will be provided.

Tickets are £95 per person, inclusive of all tools, materials, and refreshments as above. This workshop is strictly limited to 10 participants.

Please note:

  • Normal Admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • Meet at Hidcote's Visitor Reception, located by the car park, by 2pm.
  • Weather-appropriate clothing, as the foraging part of the workshop will take place outside. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
  • The foraging element will follow the accessible route in the garden, both the accessible route and the Potting Shed are wheelchair friendly.
  • Suitable for 16+.
