Volunteer Open Day at Glendurgan Garden

New volunteering opportunities at Glendurgan Garden

The Glendurgan Garden property team are looking for new volunteers to help in a variety of interesting roles.

There is an opportunity to volunteer in the charming hamlet of Durgan at the bottom of the garden. Run by a team of over 40 enthusiastic volunteers on a rota basis, the old Fish Cellar is a place to engage with visitors who stop by for a chat, sell ice cream and have meaningful conversations. This is a customer facing role, helping to tell Glendurgan and the North Helford’s story and generally welcoming anyone who chooses to visit, whether from within the garden or walking the South West Coast Path.

Another way to get involved is joining the new Apple Shed team. The Apple Shed is an area of nature engagement in the stunning orchard at Glendurgan. There is a range of volunteer led activities to help our visitors with, that are all focused on the natural world and creativity, inspired by this beautiful place. Engaging conversations will be had about the history of fruit production and beekeeping at Glendurgan. The orchard is an intimate place to get off the beaten path and immerse yourself in the flora and fauna.

The Volunteer Open Day will be held on Monday 26th February at the garden and will be split into one morning session and one afternoon session.

Each session includes a guided walk with a member of staff and volunteers around the steep garden so a medium level of fitness is required.

Spaces are limited so please book in advance.

Please note:

  • Normal Admission charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • Meet at Glendurgan Garden reception.
  • Please wear suitable outdoor footwear.
  • There are some steep slopes, steps and cobbled sections in the garden.
  • Not suitable for children.
