Book club at Knole

Be a part of the book club here at Knole, where you can explore books and discuss them with others in a place rich with literary history.

Following its success last year, Knole Book Club is back. Enjoy good company with fellow book lovers and discuss this year's theme of historical fiction along with refreshments. 

Book titles and dates for each month are: 

  • Thursday 27 February – The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood; 
  • Thursday 24 April – The King’s Mother by Annie Garthwaite; 
  • Thursday 26 June – The Foundling by Stacey Halls; 
  • Thursday 28 August – Godmersham Park by Gill Hornby;
  • Thursday 16 October – Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf;  
  • Thursday 18 December – The Mitford Secret by Jessica Fellowes. 

The book club will take place in the Hayloft Learning Centre, with drinks and biscuits provided. This is a free event but booking is essential. The first book club date is available to book now. The subsequent dates will then be available to book from the day of the preceding meeting, e.g. book club on 27 April will be available to book from 27 February.

Book club members will receive 20% discount if they buy the chosen titles from the Bookshop at Knole. You will receive information on how to redeem this discount once you have booked your space.

Please note:

  • Upon arrival please park in the main car park, and then go to the Conservation Studio where you will be directed to the Hayloft Learning Centre. The main gate for entry will appear closed. Please drive up to the gate and it will open. Follow the road past the Gatebox to the main car park. Please arrive in time for a prompt 6pm start.
  • Please bring your own copy of the book. 
  • Please bring a torch as it may be dark when the book club finishes.
  • There is a lift available to the Hayloft and accessible toilet in the Conservation Studio. The pathway from the car park to the Studio is on a gradient of 1:14. Please call 01732 462100 for more information on access at Knole.
  • Not suitable for children.
  • If you have booked a space but are no longer able to attend, please contact us on knole@nationaltrust.org.uk to let us know.
