To the Lighthouse

Join us on our final guided walk of the season where we will be shining a light on the last 3,000 years of human settlement on Belle Tout.

Our final guided walk of 2024 around what may have been the largest ancient hilltop enclosure in the country. Archaeological digs have unearthed burial mounds, Beaker pottery and other artefacts as well as a controversial shaft dug by our ancestors 40 metres into the chalk. On reaching the lighthouse, which has featured in the TV series “The Life and Loves of a She-Devil”, you will hear stories of “Mad Jack” Fuller and Parson Darby.

Please note:

  • Normal parking charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • Meet outside the Birling Gap Café where our friendly guides will greet you. Please have your booking confirmation ready to show.
  • The weather can be extreme on the Seven Sisters so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Ensure you bring water and sunscreen. Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead.
  • There is uneven and hilly terrain throughout the walk.
  • Suitable for children aged 12+ accompanied by an adult.
  • The walk lasts approximately 2.5 hours over hilly country, suitable for the moderately fit.
