Ashclyst butterfly walk, part of the Great Big Green Week
Get your walking boots on and learn about the beautiful butterflies that call Ashclyst Forest home.
As part of the Great Big Green Week take a leisurely walk along sunken lanes and woodland rides, through broad-leaved and coniferous woodland. This is an area rich in butterflies species including: fritillary, pearl bordered, small pearl-bordered, silver-washed and white admiral.
As you walk, you will learn how to identify butterflies and their habitats. If you bring a packed lunch, there is the option to take a break at midday and continue the walk until 2pm.
Please note:
- Meet in Forest Gate car park in Ashclyst Forest, close to Broadclyst. For directions please visit: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/devon/ashclyst-forest
- Good walking shoes or boots are advisable. Paths could be muddy. Please dress for the outdoors.
- Field and woodland paths are on heavy clay on a gentle slope. There may be many muddy paths, even boggy, especially after rain.
- Children over 12 accompanied by an adult are welcome
- Dogs under control are welcome.
