Avebury foraging workshop

Discover nature's wild food secrets on a foraging course with forager-herbalist Fred Gillam from The Wild Side of Life. Walk through the Avebury landscape and learn to identify and use the plants and fungi growing in our hedgerows, fields and woods.

During the foraging course you'll be able to taste some of nature's harvest which, at this time of year, can include a variety of tasty salads, succulent buds and spicy stems. You'll also learn what to look out for in the local countryside and some of the delicious hidden gems growing all around us.

Fred has 35 years of foraging experience. He has featured on ITV's Countrywise, For the Love of Britain presented by Dame Julie Walters, and on Radio 2's Jeremy Vine. He is a regular contributor on BBC local radio and is the author of 'Poisonous Plants in Great Britain'.

Later in the day there will be a chance to sample some foraged canapes and liqueurs.
