Step into spring sunset ramble

It's time to get a little spring into your step! Join Nature Engagement Officer, Dr Cliff Henry for our Step into spring sunset ramble along the breath-taking Causeway cliffs!

Join Nature Engagement Officer, Dr Cliff Henry for our Step into spring sunset ramble, along the breath-taking Causeway cliffs on Friday 18 April to explore all things wild...

Watch the fulmars returning to their nests for the evening and keep an ear out for some skylarks performing their last melodious song of the day.

On the return journey, you will pass swathes of gorse in bloom, wafting their sweet coconut scent, and then venture down the Shepherd's Steps into Port Noffer to admire the early wildflowers on the cliff slopes.

If the weather is on our side, you will have a perfect view of the sun setting over Donegal, its golden rays reflecting off the sea with the world-famous Causeway stones in the foreground - now that's one for the camera!

Just to top it all off, you will also have the chance to do some bat detecting on return to the Visitor Centre via the Blue Trail.

Please note:

  • Please meet your tour guide, Dr Cliff in the main visitor car park at the Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear suitable for the event and for the weather on the evening.
  • If you have your own hand-held torch or headtorch, we ask that you bring it.
  • This guided walk follows the Red Trail from the Visitor Centre and will take 2 hours to complete. Reasonable level of fitness required. Path includes descent down the Shepherd's Steps and to the grand Causeway and returns towards the Visitor Centre on the Blue Trail.
  • Suitable for families.
