Giant’s Causeway – Clifftop Experience

The Giant’s Causeway Clifftop Experience is a unique opportunity to see Northern Ireland's only World Heritage Site. This fully guided 5 mile hike, delivered in partnership with local company Away A Wee Walk, offers an alternative route to explore the Giant’s Causeway. You will see breathtaking views along the coastline that most visitors miss!

Beginning at Dunseverick Castle and ending on the world-famous stones, the walk covers 5 miles of wild and rugged coastal scenery along undulating grass and gravel paths on a broad but open cliff. See much more of the World Heritage Site as you make your way to the most northerly point of Northern Ireland. There are stone steps, wooden stiles and ‘kissing’ gates to cross along the way. Stop off at one of the most stunning views in Ireland at Hamilton’s Seat.

As you walk, you can listen to the stories of the Giant’s Causeway and learn about the history and geology of the Causeway coastline from the knowledgeable and passionate guides.

The Clifftop Experience commences from the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre at 11.00am for the Rambler bus to Dunseverick Castle. The walk returns along the clifftop to the Giant's Causeway and is expected to take around 3½ hours to complete, with 2½ hours of that walking and tour commentary time. Allow 4 hours in total from arrival to departure from the site so you can enjoy time at the famous stones after the hike.

Please note we reserve the right to adapt the itinerary depending on weather conditions or operations.

A good level of health and fitness is required to complete this hike and children must be aged 12 years plus. Due to accessibility, this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Please ensure to book 72 hours in advance of your visit to allow the team to prepare for your arrival.

Please email northcoastbookings@nationaltrust.org.uk if you want to enquire about a private tour or have any questions regarding the Clifftop experience.
