Summer Solstice Yoga

Join us in marking the Summer Solstice as we practise yoga under the setting sun in a special class with yoga teacher Emma Blunston in the Orangery at Hanbury Hall.

The Summer Solstice is when the sun reaches the height of its powers before the energy shifts and the days begin to shorten again gradually.

We will celebrate summer by re-charging, energising, and feeling radiant as we will be flowing through many rounds of sun salutations while combining meditation and intention setting as the sun sets.

Benefits of this yoga practice: healing, calming, strengthening, stabilising, building confidence, lifting mood, energising, uplifting, empowering, building determination and expanding your sense of what is possible, strengthening your intention and resolve.

Please note: This will be a flowy practice for all levels, especially those who are slightly advanced in yoga, as there will be more movement in this session as we move through sun salutations flows.

Few things to be mindful of:
~ Please bring extra blankets for additional comfort for any knee issues due to the floor being a harder surface.
~ Please be aware that you will be practising yoga in a historic natural space at Hanbury Hall, so wildlife will be around, such as bees, Insects, birds, and butterflies (this all adds to the natural surroundings of the yoga practice. We will always respect the space of wildlife.)
~ Please bring your own mat (we will have a small amount for you to borrow if needed)
~ Water (Optional)

Please note:

  • Please check-in at visitor reception and meet your instructor by the Orangery in the formal gardens. Please note it is a 5 minute walk from the car park to the Orangery.
  • Please bring a yoga mat, drinking water, and wear suitable clothing and footwear. You may want to bring extra padding for your knees as the ground in the Orangery is made of stone.
  • Unfortunately there is no step-free access into the Orangery building.
  • Not suitable for children.
