Summer Painting Workshop at Hinton Ampner

Learn how to paint beautiful summer blooms, such as roses and peonies, with artist and tutor Linda Turner.

In this 2 and half hour class, artist Linda Turner will teach you the techniques and skills used for drawing summer blooms. Everything from planning a composition to adding shade to create depth and realism. She will talk about the colour wheel and its importance for creating realistic shadow colours.

Hinton Ampner is renowned for having incredible summer colour which are excellent for creating the perfect picture. 

Linda aims to explain and illustrate techniques, followed by one-to-one tuition while participants are painting so, whether this is your first experience in exploring your artistic abilities, or you are a seasoned artist looking to push the depths of your skills, you will be spoilt for subject choice with amazing blooms as your inspiration, and the guidance from Linda.

This workshop is for all forms of art medium such as watercolour, acrylics and pencil. 

For watercolour painting please bring:     
- Drawing board or easel. 
- Watercolour paper and paint, brushes, water container, mixing palette.

For acrylic please bring: 
- Acrylic paper and paints. 

For pencils please bring: 
Artist quality coloured pencils in a variety of colours and drawing paper.

There are benches to sit on but a camping chair would enable more flexibility in selecting subjects to paint.

Please note:

  • Please meet at Visitor Reception where your tutor will greet you.
  • Please bring paints, brushes, drawing board, plus medium materials of your choice. Please note that there are benches to sit on but a camping chair is advisable.
  • Many of the garden routes at Hinton Ampner are hard standing paths, but some steps are involved down to different areas. Please call ahead of your visit and speak to a member of the team for more information, or visit our homepage for a full accessibility statement.
  • Please note that two timings of class available. One at 10:30am and one at 1:30pm. Both classes cover the same content.
