Cuckoo Clock workshop

Make a charming cuckoo clock model to hang on your wall at home! This brand new workshop will delight anyone who likes crafts.

We'll help you design and make a unique Cuckoo Clock, with your own choice of clock face, pendulums and decorations.

Did you know that Wicken Fen is one of just a handful of sites in the South of England that Cuckoos visit each summer? Take a stroll around the Fen in May and you will probably hear their distinctive call. Females lay just one egg in the nest of an unfortunate Reed Warbler, then take no further part in brooding or feeding their chick.

Note that the finished clocks will be for decorative purposes and will not include a working clock mechanism.

Please note:

  • Check in with the team in the Visitor's Centre.
  • Wear older clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. We'll be inside so the weather cannot spoil our fun!
  • Assistance dogs are welcome. The Learning Centre has good wheelchair access and a hearing loop.
  • Suitable for children age 5+. Must be accompanied.
  • No admission charge for non-members, but £3.20 car park charge applies. Members are asked to bring their membership cards for scanning. Accompanying adults are welcome to build their own houses; please book a ticket for each person who wants to build.
