Learn about grassland flora and survey techniques in areas off the beaten track of the Estate!
Become a ranger for the day! Starting from the Visitor Reception Building, journey through the Grade 1 listed parkland as part of the priority habitat condition assessments.
Learn how to carry out random quadrat surveys, discover the grassland flora in the area and discuss the ranger’s grassland management techniques.
This survey walk will explore areas with uneven terrain and may involve walking through areas of brambles. Due to the random sampling techniques the rangers use, this walk may not follow proper paths.
Hot drinks and snacks can be purchased at the beginning and end of the walk. For the comfort of the group, please leave your dogs at home.
Please note:
- Standard admissions charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- The Woodland Survey Walk will take place from the Visitor Reception Building, located in the Stableyard. Please meet 10 minutes before the walk is due to start.
- Please wear sturdy outdoor shoes and dress for the Great British Weather. Bring appropriate snacks and water if needed.
- There are accessible toilets and parking located in the Stableyard, please note that this walk is along uneven terrain and is not wheelchair/pushchair accessible.
- Suitable for children aged 14 or over.
