Great Big Green Week Festival: Darting Dragonflies

Meet one of our dragonfly surveyors and go on a dragonfly and damselfly hunt this Great Big Green Week to see some of these darting, shimmering beauties.

Enjoy a short talk about dragonflies and damselflies and discover why Scotney is renowned for them. Weather permitting, you'll then walk down to the moat to see which ones you spot.
Do bear in mind that, like many of us, these creatures enjoy the sunshine. If it is cold, raining or windy it is extremely unlikely there will be any dragonflies or damselflies to spot.

Please note:

  • Standard admissions charges apply to non-members on arrival.
  • Meet at the Gardeners' noticeboard at Visitor Entrance 5-10 minutes before the start of the event.
  • Comfortable shoes for walking are recommended.
  • Steep path down/up to moat at old castle. Hard-surface paths suitable for wheelchairs and powered mobility vehicles. No WCs in garden.
  • Only assistance dogs are permitted in the walled garden.
  • Book your car parking as well as your place on the talk in order to guarantee entry. Bookings open every Thursday four weeks in advance.
