Guided history walk at Stackpole
Join us on 1 & 22 July for a two-hour, guided and easy walk, introducing the history of the Stackpole Estate and associated families, concentrating on the period from 1777 when parkland was most altered by John Campbell II.
On the walk, key historical features of the landscape remaining today will be highlighted as you go via the site of the old mansion (now demolished) and end up in the Walled Garden (the Walled Garden is managed by Mencap).
The walk starts with an introduction at the Stackpole Centre before heading towards the Eight Arch Bridge, along the side of the Eastern Arm of the lakes to the Hidden Bridge, then One Arch Bridge, and into Lodge Park Woods to see the summer house. Then to the site of the old mansion, with views down the eastern arm, before returning through Lodge Park woods to the Walled Garden where the walk concludes.
Wildlife will be seen throughout the walk and your guide will point out any interesting bits of wildlife, especially if there are otters to be seen!
