Behind Closed Doors: Textiles Tour

24 June, 29 July and 30 September: discover more about the unique textiles collection at Chastleton, from handstitched and woven items dating back to the 17th century to more contemporary items.

Discover more about our unique textiles collection with a guided tour led by our conservation team. Chastleton is home to handstitched and woven textiles dating back to the 17th century, as well as more contemporary items.

You'll find out how we care for and preserve this special collection of textiles, and the challenges we face looking after them. You'll also get a chance to explore the storerooms and discover some of our costume not usually seen on display.

This tour takes place on 24 June, 29 July and 30 September, 2-4pm. £25 per person.

Please note:

  • Meet at front door of Chastleton House.
  • Wear warm clothing as it can be a bit chilly in the house depending on the weather outside! Sensible shoes - no high heels.
  • Entrance to the house is up 6 steep steps. The house has 12 flights of stairs going up 4 floors. The building is not accessible by wheelchair.
  • This event is aimed primarily at adults.
  • Join us from 1.45pm for a cuppa and piece of cake before the tour begins at 2.15pm.
