Bat Walks at The Langdales
Head out for bat and wildlife spotting adventures after dark with our Ranger team in Langdale.
Our bat walks are back! Taking place just after it gets dark, the time of day when Langdale’s bats are coming out to fly and feed.
Enjoy a fun introduction to bats before setting off on a family friendly guided walk with our bat detectors to see what you can find.
It’s not just bats out at night, maybe you’ll hear the call of an owl or the rustle of a passing mouse.
Please note:
- Meet upstairs in the Hayloft at Lanty Slee's Langdale (Sticklebarn) at 5.45pm and grab a hot drink. We plan to start no later than 6pm.
- Stickle Ghyll car park is the nearest. Standard charges apply, free parking for National Trust members.
- This is an outdoor event so please wrap up warm, bring your waterproofs and wear suitable footwear.
- Remember to bring a headtorch as we will be heading out after dark.
- Unfortunately the Hayloft (where the presentation is taking place) is currently not accessible for disabled visitors. However, the outdoor and and bat detecting part of the event is suitable for disabled visitors. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs so we can make arrangements as needed.
- This is a family-orientated event, suitable for all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the event.
- In the event that the weather forecast is so bad that the bat walk can't take place the walk will be replaced with an indoor session with the rangers.
- Sadly, dogs are not permitted at this event as the walk takes places close to grazing animals during darkness.
