Community Dark Skies Night
Free event. To help celebrate the Grasmere Switch Off we will be opening the grounds of Allan Bank after dark to allow visitors to enjoy this unique date in the year where you can enjoy a true dark skies experience.
Join us for a night outside under the dark skies (and if we are lucky with the stars out as well!). Bring your own telescopes and binoculars. If the clouds stay away we can go in search of stars, distant galaxies and planets.
This is a free event (booking essential). Please bring a torch.
Please note if the weather is poor or cloudy the event will still go ahead.
We are taking bookings for 1 hour slots between 8pm and 11pm.
Please note:
- Please park in the village and make your way up the driveway to Allan Bank. Members of our team will be there to meet you and direct you from here.
- Bring a torch and binoculars if you have them. Please bring warm clothing. Please also wear suitable footwear for walking on a footpath which is well graded but slightly rough in places.
- The venue is wheelchair accessible. The outdoor part of the evening involves a 50m walk on well graded footpath. We can accommodate those with accessibility needs if we know in advance.
- Suitable for all ages. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.
- Warm drinks (tea/coffee/hot chocolate) and biscuits will be available throughout the evening.
