Spring Walks: Mam Tor & Cave Dale from Mam Tor Car Park

A moderate 6-mile guided walk conquering Mam Tor Hillfort, exploring Odin Mine and ascending Cave Dale. Meeting at Mam Tor Car Park.

Spring is one of the most exciting times to walk in the Peak District. While the moorland does not flower until the beginning of summer, the deep valleys begin to wake from the long winter. Bluebells, celandine and wood sorrel are some of the first flowers to bloom in the meadows and woodland, while the bleats of new-born lambs can be heard everywhere. Explore the Peak District's hidden gems with our carefully curated Spring walks programme, offering a selection of low-level walks across the Kinder, Edale & the High Peak that show off the best of springtime.

This moderate guided walk explores some of the Peak Districts’ most spectacular archaeological and geological sites including Mam Tor Hillfort, Odin Mine and Cave Dale. Beginning at Mam Tor Car Park, the walk ascends the steps onto Mam Tor's Iron Age Hillfort. From the summit, the route descends into the Hope Valley, stopping at Odin Mine, before a moderate ascent up the impressive limestone valley at Cave Dale and back to the car park.

The walk is approximately 6 miles and includes a road crossing, a steep ascent up steps, and follows an uneven footpath. Dogs on leads are welcome but there may be some stiles.
