Family Sound Walk | Guided Estate Walk

A family-friendly guided walk in the parkland, exploring the sounds of nature as you go.

Underwater, underground, in the air - sound is everywhere. Explore the unique acoustic habitats of the Blickling Estate on this family-oriented soundwalk led by Martin Scaiff, field recordist, educator and creator of the HomeSounds project. These walks will reveal new worlds of sound and the surprising life that creates them by encouraging you to become an active environmental listener. Using your ears as well as specialist listening equipment you will experience, and learn about, the incredible diversity and influence of environmental sound on the Blickling Estate.

Starting near the main Car Park, Martin will take you on a short walk around the 'goose-foot' area of the estate, stopping on the way to tune in to  sounds around you using specialist microphones and wireless headphones.

Please bring weather appropriate clothing and footwear

You don’t have to be quiet for this event!

This free event is supported by the Bure Valley Riverlands project, connecting the community to the landscape. As spaces are very limited for this event, we kindly ask that you only book if you are planning to attend, and let us know if you can no longer make it.

  • The nearest facilities are next to visitor welcome in Blickling’s main visitor car park. Entry to house and garden before or after the walk subject to normal admission charges.
