Hiking for Beginners Skills Session

Develop your skills so you can feel more confident planning a walk in the hills.

What do I need? How do I plan? Develop your skills so you can feel more confident on your next adventure in the outdoors. We’ll cover basic map reading and navigation, how to prepare for a day in the fells and what equipment you might need.

The session will last 2 hours and will include indoor presentations and teaching, as well as lots of time outside to practice those new skills.

This workshop is being provided in partnership with qualified instructors from Lakeland Mountain Guides - the Mountain Activity Specialists.

It will be in the grounds of Fell Foot. Please bring suitable outdoor footwear and waterproofs.

Cost £10 per person.

Please note:

  • Please head to the welcome point which will be adjacent to the Boathouse Cafe.
  • Please bring appropriate clothing for spending time outside in all weathers, including decent footwear as we will be out and about during the sessions.
  • The sessions are suitable for all. In order for us to tailor the outdoor part of the day please let us know when you book if you have any accessibility needs and we will be in touch to discuss how best to make the experience as good as it can be for you.
