Textile Designer Anne Martland of Lavender Drift teaches the heritage craft of Dorset Button making in this 3-hour workshop in the mansion at Ightham Mote. 

Suitable for any craft enthusiasts from beginners to the more accomplished, this is a chance to learn a unique heritage craft skill and create a stunning brooch or necklace, whilst benefitting from the mindfulness it brings.

Delicious tea and cake will be provided.

Please note:

  • This event takes place in the Squires Room in the main house. Please enter via the main entrance and follow signs for the Squires Room.
  • Soft drinks and cake will be available and all materials will be provided.
  • Access to The garden is steep in places with steps and gravel, cobbles and grass pathways - please speak to staff on arrival for the best route for your needs. Disabled parking is available near visitor reception. Pushchairs are permitted in all areas of the garden, but please take care as there are many open water areas around the garden.
  • Suitable for 16+.
