Community Volunteering Event: Shrub clearing & woodland glade restoration

Join us to help keep Willow Green looking its best this Winter.

Over the last few years the woodlands in and around Willow Green have seen a lot of change, mainly though the removal of ash trees.

This volunteer day we will be focussing on cutting back shrubs along the pathways and tidy up the newly gained open spaces to create woodland glades.

We will be shifting brash and create dead hedges with it, clear the grounds, cut and dig out brambles and plant native wildflowers, such as wild garlic and bluebells to enhance biodiversity.

Some changes may apply on the day if we need to adapt this session to weather conditions.

Please note:

  • Meet at St. John’s church.
  • Weather appropriate clothing and sensible shoes please.
  • Bring a rake or garden fork and suitable gloves if you have them.
  • Due to uneven surfaces, this activity is not wheelchair friendly.
  • Children aged 14 and above are welcome.
