Help Out Day: Coppicing at Skelghyll Woods

Help our rangers with coppicing at Skelgyhll Woods, Ambleside.

Have a go at this ancient woodland management technique. We'll be coppicing in Skelghyll Woods as part of our on-going woodland management. 

We will provide tools and work gloves, do bring your own gloves if you have them.

Please note:

  • Meet at the small car park for Stagshaw Gardens and Skelghyll Woods postcode LA22 0HE.
  • Bring waterproof shoes, boots or wellies, waterproof jacket and sun protection if it's sunny. Work/gardening gloves, if you have some. Bring a pack lunch, snacks and drinks.
  • There is uneven ground in a woodland area. We will walk from the car park to the woodland (approx. 20 minute walk).
  • Not suitable for children.

  • The nearest toilets are also at Waterhead carpark.
