Arborist Blossom and Heritage Orchard Tour at Dyffryn Gardens
Take a free blossom tour of the Dyffryn Gardens Heritage Orchard with Senior Gardener and Head Arborist, Rory Ambrose, on Friday 25 April.
Take a tour with Arborist Rory around the Arboretum and Dyffryn Heritage Orchard and discover the beauty of the changing season. Not only will he walk you through some of the best spots for blossom on that particular day, you'll also be visiting our Heritage Orchard, planted in 2018 in order to preserve and grow different varieties of Welsh pear and apple trees, including some extremely rare species. Along the way Rory will share how we care for and restore a historical arboretum and orchard with nature and sustainability in mind.
Ask questions and find out in-depth information about the trees and plants you come across, including how they all fit in with our biodiversity and restoration work.
You can pre-book your free place or turn up on the day (we recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment, there are 20 places on each tour). The tour is around an hour-and-a-half long. Please note that while these tours include regular stops they are walking tours so be prepared to be on the move for most of the time.
These tours are free of charge but normal admission applies. If you are a National Trust member admission to the gardens is free. If you enjoy the tour, please feel free to give a donation towards our restoration and biodiversity efforts.
Please note:
- Standard admissions charges apply to non-members on arrival.
- Meet at the Welcome Centre, let the Welcome Team know you're here for the tour.
- Dress for the weather and wear good shoes for walking.
- The route can be adapted to the group's needs but the nature of the Arboretum and orchard means they are not always easily accessible to those using wheelchairs, pushchairs or mobility scooters.
- This tour is designed for adults but we welcome older children/teenagers too.
