Wednesday at one: The Women Who Made Manchester
From the first domestic goddess, poets, politicians and protesters, the female side of Manchester has a lot to say.
Manchester is a city of change and innovation often driven by men, industrialists, entrepreneurs and scientists who collectively altered history during the Industrial Revolution. Along the way, Manchester women also had their say. Some are still remembered, others are forgotten. From the first domestic goddess, poets, politicians and protesters, the female side of Manchester has had a lot to say.
Some I'll be including are Elizabeth Raffald, Elizabeth Gaskell, Emmeline Pankhurst (of course), Marie Stopes, Nancy Rothwell. Not to forget the Manchester Worker Bee who was a female bee!
Please note:
- Please meet at the Event Space.
- Castlefield Viaduct is fully accessible with ramps and lift access from Deansgate Castlefield Metrolink Stop.
- Children are welcome in the space, although the talk is not aimed at a younger audience.
