Woven Worlds Symposium: 2 Day In-Person Event
Celebrate the international significance of the 16th century Gideon Tapestries at this specialist symposium at the Casa Hotel and Hardwick Hall in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
In 2024, Hardwick’s prestigious Gideon Tapestries received international recognition for the 24-year conservation project to restore these tapestries.
To celebrate this milestone, Hardwick Hall and the National Trust's Textile Conservation Studio have organised the ‘Woven Worlds: A Story of Creativity and Conservation’ symposium.

Please note that this symposium is aimed at industry professionals and some background knowledge of conservation and textiles might be needed for this event.
Your ticket includes access to the two days of the conference, including:
Day 1, Monday 28 April:
- In-person talks delivered by professional experts at the Casa Hotel, Chesterfield.
- Refreshments, lunch and the conference dinner at 7pm.
Day 2, Tuesday 29 April
- In-person talks delivered by professional experts and a private tour at Hardwick Hall, Chesterfield.
- Lunch
Your ticket does not include:
- Accommodation. We recommend booking at the Casa Hotel, Chesterfield. A discount voucher will be sent in your confirmation email for £135 a night for single occupancy or £145 a night for double occupancy with breakfast included. Alternatively, there are also several hotels available to book in Chesterfield.
- Transport to Hardwick Hall from the Casa Hotel in Chesterfield. We would encourage car-sharing where possible or we would advise pre-booking a taxi.

- Event to start at 9.00am and end at 5.40pm on Day 1. Event to start at 9am and end at 3pm on Day 2.
- Bring any note taking equipment.
- Casa Hotel: Limited number of accessible rooms, no public accessible W/Cs, lifts to all floors in the hotel.
Hardwick Hall: accessible W/Cs and parking, buggy service available to hall.
