Kinder Scout Mass Trespass Anniversary Guided Walk

Follow in the footsteps of the Mass trespassers on the 93rd Anniversary on this 8-mile circular guided walk from Hayfield onto Kinder Scout.

93 years ago, in 1932 around 500 walkers walked from Hayfield onto Kinder Scout, belonging then to the Duke of Devonshire, in an act of mass trespass to protest for the right to open countryside for all. Walk in the trespasser's footsteps onto land now cared for by the National Trust and learn about its complex history and the long fight for access to the countryside.

Starting at Bowden Bridge Car Park in Hayfield, you'll pass Kinder Reservoir and ascend Kinder Scout via William Clough. The route then joins the Pennine Way Southward to Kinder Downfall and follows the plateau edge before descending via the Three Knolls. The final descents passes through farmland before returning to Bowden Bridge.

This challenging walk is approximately 8 miles and includes a steep ascent and follows an uneven footpath. Due to the moderate difficulty only adult tickets are available. The walk is not suitable for pushchairs or prams. Dogs on leads are welcome but there may be some stiles.
