Elgar's Cello Concerto - talk and live performance

The Firs is pleased to present a live performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto, performed by cellist Corinne Frost and pianist Janine Parsons, accompanied by a talk from historian Richard Westwood-Brookes exploring the history of this remarkable work.

Join us at The Firs on Sunday 2 November for a special event exploring one of Edward Elgar’s most profound compositions — the Cello Concerto. This unique programme offers both insight and performance, providing a deeper understanding of this iconic work.

Speaker Richard Westwood-Brookes will present a talk examining the historical context of the concerto, delving into Elgar’s inspiration and exploring why this was the final major work of his career.

Following the talk, enjoy a live performance of the concerto in its cello and piano arrangement, featuring acclaimed cellist Corinne Frost and pianist Janine Parsons.

Performances will take place at 11am and 2pm, with only 60 seats available per session. Tickets are priced at £15. Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
