Kid's Birdbox Making
Do something for the birds in your garden by making a birdbox at Tinkley Gate, Woodchester Park.
Perfect for children, all tools and materials will be provided.
We are hosting 4 children's birdbox making workshops at Tinkley Gate to celebrate nesting box week this February half-term!
The sessions start at 10:30am or 12:30pm and will run for 2 hours.
The birds are beginning to look for good places to nest in time for Spring. Have a go at building your own birdbox to take home to the birds in your garden somewhere to make a nest.
There'll be instructions to follow and National Trust volunteers to lead and help you while you build.
We will provide all the pre-cut and drilled wood to assemble your box. You'll be given a hammer, gloves and goggles to wear. Then, with a little supervision from your adult, you can have a go building your own box!
After you have finished, you can decorate the outside to make it beautiful for the birds.
Then, take back your box to hang somewhere at home, watch to see if any birds pick it for this year's season.
The price of the ticket is for 1 birdbox, we have enough space to make 1 birdbox between 2 if you would like to share the tools and make a joint project! Please only book for 1 birdbox.
Adults go free, there is no need to book a ticket. Due to the space available in the barn, we request that maximum 2 adults accompany each child. Please accompany children for the event to supervise the use of tools.
Carparking is free for National Trust members and £3 for non-members.
Please note:
- Meet at Tinkley Gate Café. The event is taking place in the barn area round the side of the café.
