Trees in the Landscape - Golden Cap

Meet our ecology team at Langdon Woods and join us for an informative walk to the base of Golden Cap where we celebrate the ancient trees in our landscape.

Starting at the Langdon Hill parking meter we will walk westwards along the footpath before cutting down to Filcombe Farm and then southwards to the foot of Golden Cap where there are a number of veteran trees with some interesting lichens, moss and fungi. People can self guide to the summit if they wish or we can return you to the car park through Langdon Hill Wood, making this a lovely 3km circular walk.

This walk may take around 2 hours due to the information we will be sharing with you on route.

Please note:

  • Meet at Langdon Hill car park, next to the parking pay meter.
  • This is an outdoor event which crosses over some uneven pathways and areas which can also become very muddy at times. Please wear good shoes with an excellent grip and weather appropriate clothing.
  • Some pathways are uneven with raised tree routes. One section has a steep uphill climb. This is not suitable for prams or pushchairs.
  • There are uphill sections which children may find hard, but the walk is quite short and may suit some youngsters.
  • There are no toilet facilities here and nowhere to buy refreshments so please bring your own food and drink.
  • There are some uphill sections which little legs may find hard, but otherwise the walk is quite short and may suit some children.
  • This is a free walk but due to limited number of places booking is essential.
